DUNCAN JAMES - PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL – NEW THEATRE OXFORD

Following emergency surgery for a prolapsed herniated disc, Duncan James has been told by the surgeon that he must not perform for several weeks.

The producers of Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical therefore announce today that Duncan will not be performing the role of ‘Tick’ at the New Theatre Oxford this week.

The role of ‘Tick’ will be played by Craig Ryder.

The Producers and everyone involved with the show wish Duncan a speedy recovery.

DARREN DAY TO STAR AS ‘TICK’

IN THE NATIONAL TOUR OF THE SMASH HIT MUSICAL PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT IN WOKING, PLYMOUTH AND LLANDUDNO

David Ian Productions and the Ambassador Theatre Group are delighted to announce that Darren Day will star as ‘Tick’ in the international smash hit musical PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT in Woking from 15 February to 27 February 2016; Plymouth from 9 May to 14 May 2016 and Llandudno from 16 May to 21 May 2016. Darren Day’s first theatre role was the title role in “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, both in the West End and on tour internationally. His other West End theatre credits include ‘Danny’ in “Grease”; ‘Don’ in “Summer Holiday” and ‘Tony’ in “Copacabana”.
On tour, he has played the title role in “Alfie”; ‘Billy Bigelow’ in “Carousel”; ‘Pip’ in “Great Expectations”; ‘Jesus’ in “Godspell”; ‘Frank N Furter’ in “The Rocky Horror Show”; ‘Cornelius’ in “Hello Dolly” and ‘Khashoggi’ in the Queen musical “We Will Rock You”. His TV credits include roles in “Holby”; “Crime Stories”; “Doctors”; “The Bill”; “Mile High” and “Hollyoaks”. He is also well-known as a television presenter for shows including “Just Kidding”; “Don’t Try This at Home”; “Clockwise”, “Teen Win Lose or Draw” and” You Bet!”.

NEW CASTING ANNOUNCED!

GAVIN MITCHELL TO PLAY ‘BOB’ AND KAREN DUNBAR TO PLAY ‘SHIRLEY’ IN THE SMASH HIT MUSICAL

David Ian Productions and the Ambassador Theatre Group are delighted to announce that Scotland’s very own Gavin Mitchell will play ‘Bob’ and Karen Dunbar will play ‘Shirley’ in the smash hit musical PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT when it plays at the Edinburgh Playhouse from Tuesday 15 December 2015 to Saturday 2 January 2016. They join Jason Donovan as ‘Tick’, Simon Green as ‘Bernadette’ and Adam Bailey as ‘Felicia’.

Gavin Mitchell will take on the role of ‘Bob’ for the first time. Gavin is probably best known for his role of ‘Boabby’ the barman in the long running comedy series “Still Game” which went on to become a sell-out live stage show at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro Arena. Gavin is also regularly cast in the annual Glasgow Kings pantomime.

Karen Dunbar will play ‘Shirley’. Karen is best known for her work on the TV show “Chewin’ The Fat” which ran for three series, she then went on to star in four series of her own show, “The Karen Dunbar Show”. Karen’s theatre credits include “The Vagina Monologues” at the Edinburgh Playhouse, “Men Should Weep” at the National Theatre in London and “Can’t Forget About You” at the Lyric Belfast. She has also become a pantomime favourite starring in six pantomimes at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow.

Jason Donovan played the role of ‘Tick’ when the show originally opened in the West End and its subsequent tour in 2013.  His other West End credits include the title role in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and ‘Caractacus Potts’ in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. His touring credits include ‘Captain Von Trapp’ in “The Sound of Music” and ‘Frank N Furter’ in “The Rocky Horror Show” and most recently ‘Lionel Logue’ in “The King’s Speech”. His television credits include “Neighbours” and “Echo Beach”. He was also a finalist in ITV’s smash hit “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!” and reached the final of “Strictly Come Dancing”. Joining the previously announced Duncan James and Jason Donovan, who share the role of ‘Tick’, are Simon Green as ‘Bernadette’, Adam Bailey as ‘Felicia’ and Philip Childs as ‘Bob’.

Simon Green’s most recent stage credits include ‘Bruce Ismay’ in “Titanic” both in Toronto and at the Southwark Playhouse; “The World Goes Round” at the Union Theatre and ‘Monsieur André’ in “The Phantom of The Opera” on tour. Adam Bailey most recently appeared as ‘Espresso’ in the German production of “Starlight Express”. His other theatre credits include ‘Mary Sunshine’ in “Chicago” at Leicester Curve and ‘Alan’ in “Bare” at the Greenwich Theatre. Philip Childs played the role of ‘Bob’ on the 2013 tour of “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”. He is currently appearing as ‘Doctor Dillamond’ in “Wicked” at the Apollo Victoria. Other recent theatre credits include Alan Bennett’s “People” and “The Habit of Art” at the National Theatre.  

As one quarter of the pop band Blue, Duncan James has sold over 16 million records, had three number one albums and forty number one singles worldwide. His stage credits include playing ‘Warner Huntington III’ in the West End production of “Legally Blonde” and ‘Billy Flynn’ in “Chicago”. He was also a finalist on ITV1’s Dancing on Ice.

JASON DONOVAN reprises the role of ‘Tick’, the part he played when the show originally opened in the West End and its subsequent tour in 2013. He has had a hugely successful and varied career as both an actor and world-wide recording artist, selling over 13 million albums to date.  As well as “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” his other West End credits include the title role in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and ‘Caractacus Potts’ in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. His touring credits include ‘Captain Von Trapp’ in “The Sound of Music”, ‘Frank N Furter’ in “The Rocky Horror Show”, the title role in John Doyle’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd” and ‘The Artilleryman’ in “The War of the Worlds”. He can currently be seen as ‘Lionel Logue’ in “The King’s Speech”. His television credits include “Neighbours” and “Echo Beach”. He was also a finalist in ITV’s smash hit “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!” and reached the final of “Strictly Come Dancing”.
