Rebel Penfold-Russell - Latent Image Productions

True to her name, Rebel Penfold-Russell is a rebel in the world of arts. She is a rare, ideal mix of artist, producer/director and patron and has recently been awarded to Order of Australia Medal.

After graduating from NIDA (acting), Rebel continued her studies at the London International Film School and New York Film School before returning to Australia to establish Latent Image Productions and Rebelstudio.

She was the executive producer of the award-winning Australian feature films Frauds starring Phil Collins (Cannes Competition), The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert starring Terence Stamp,  Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce (Cannes Priz du Public and Academy Award 1995) and Paws. She directed the feature film WillFull, with a slate of films and documentaries, and continues directing and producing  through Rebelstudio.

A fervent supporter of the visual and performing arts, she has a long history of fostering companies such as Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Dance Company, Sculpture by the Sea and those encouraging young filmmakers. She continues to tap dance through life with energetic curiosity for and in the arts, and lists her best productions to date as her two sons, Emrys and Jasper.
