FAQs

Don't ask us!

Don't ask us!

How do we get to the Palace Theatre?

Full travel details can be found here.

What time do the doors open?

The auditorium door will open 45 minutes before showtime.

Can we get food and drink at the theatre?

Yes, there are bars on every floor of the Palace Theatre serving hot and cold drinks and simple snacks.

Can we eat and drink close-by?

Yes. The Palace Theatre is situated right at the edge of Soho in the heart of London’s West End. There are hundreds of interesting places to eat and drink within a 10 minute walk - and to suit all budgets.

Is the show suitable for children?

Due to some occasional coarse language and adult themes, we usually recommend that children under 15 years be supervised. Having said that, many children did see Priscilla downunder and were entranced by the colour and spectacle in the show along with, of course, the fabulous singing and dancing.

Is there really a bus on stage?

Yes, there is. Priscilla (the bus) weighs about six tonnes, she’s nearly eight metres long and she’s clad in hundreds of LED lightbulbs which enable her to change colour during the show. She also has a retractable side wall panel which lifts to enable scenes to be played inside the bus. Inside Priscilla there are three hydraulic lifts, she’s fully automated, can turn 360 degrees on-stage and she cost an awful lot of money!

Does the show feature the music from the film?

Many of the best songs from the movie do feature in the show including I Will Survive, Finally, Shake Your Groove Thing, I Love the Nightlife, Go West, I’ve Never Been to Me and the famous aria from Verdi’s opera La Traviata which accompanies Felicia’s show-stopping moment on top of the bus in the desert! There are almost 20 additional dance-floor classics in the stage musical too including What’s Love Got to Do With It? I Say a Little Prayer, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Always on My Mind, Hot Stuff and MacArthur Park. View the full song list.

What has been done to improve the restricted view seats in the stalls?

We have installed two large screens in the stalls, which are linked with a feed to a camera positioned on the front of the dress circle. This allows the audience in the restricted seats to be able to see what is happening on stage on the brief occassions they may not be able to see all production elements.

When can we buy tickets for performances next year?

We are now taking bookings up to the 4th of September 2010.

Hi Beatriz,

If you book your tickets online through the website there is a box you can tick that says “care of box office”. This means that you can pick your tickets up from the Palace theatre box office when you come to see the show. We hope that helps you and we hope you enjoy the show.

Will the musical be coming to the united states (maybe broadway) any time soon? Even though I live in Texas, I’ve been the lucky enough to be in Melbourne in 2007 to see it there and just return from London last week just to see it again but hope I won’t have to travel as far next time to see it!!

I’m a huge fan!

Hi there just saw Jason Donovan on Loose Women and some clips from the show.

They all had amazing glittery lips. How do they achieve that effect? What can I use to do my lips like this?

Thanks

by Priscilla

April 15th, 2009 at 4:52 pm

Hi Melissa,

Well here’s the trade secret. First they put on lipstick, then they smear their lips with vasculine and finally they plunge their lips into a tub of glitter. It’s designed to be wiped off quickly between numbers, but if you are looking for a longer lasting hold use hairspray afterwards. Trade secrets!!

I see someone has asked if there will be a cast album will this be with the London cast as I have seen that the brochure says cd out now rerecorded original Australian cast recording. the original cd is good but we really do need a London album a re release will be a waste of time and money.

by Hannah

May 11th, 2009 at 7:23 pm

Sorry I meant how obscured is the view from the seats?

by Priscilla

May 12th, 2009 at 10:03 am

Hi Hannah,

The resricted views from the back of the stalls, refers to some flying and elevated elements of the show that you may not be able to see fully e.g. the divas being lowered from the ceiling. However to help rectify the situation there are now two large screens in the stalls showing what you may not be able to see on stage. I hope that answers your question Hannah.

Was wondering who runs the Priscilla Twitter page, as it is very unfair that the ticket competition weekly giveaways are always done during the working day. How about us who are not allowed to use Twitter in the office? It’s not very fair as it discriminates us workers with no internet access. I have tweeted back almost every week to ask for it to be after 6pm (at least some weeks) but to no prevail.

I am planning on booking tickets asap to see Priscilla in July. As a massive Jason fan I would be extremely disappointed if he was not in the performance. I am aware that he has holiday booked in August and September but does he have any days off and does he play all shows, health permitting?

Thanks and I cannot wait to see it!!!!!

Hi,

I’ve been fortunate enough to see the show in Auckland, Sydney and London, and love it.

I’ll be in London over the new year and want to see it again on January 9th - my Birthday!

I’d like to invite a group of friends, one of whom is in a wheelchair. Are there ’seats’ available for disabled and if so, where, how much and how do I buy them as part of a group?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi, I’m so excited that I’m going to London in 2nd week of Oct to see the show.
Question 1 - Any rush seat tickets?
Question 2 - If not, how soon should I book the tickets? Are they hard to get or should I wait until I’m there?
Question 3 - What’s the status of the London Cast Recording?

by jettasian

Question 4 - Any plan for this show to perform on Sunday??

by Priscilla

August 14th, 2009 at 10:36 am

Hi there,

Right;
1) It depends on what day you are looking for seats and what seats you want, the best seats sell out quickly.

2) You can wait until you get to London, but it will be luck of the draw what seats are available.

3) At the moment there are no plans to do a London cast recording.

Hi I’m hoping to bring my 12 year old daughter to the show on 4th march if we can get tickets. She’s been my carer for several years and has recently been diagnosed with the same rare condition. She has a hospital appointment at GOSH the same day which she’s been dreading. I’m hoping seeing your show will give her something positive and fun to remember from the day! (especially as we’re back at another hospital next day for me!) It would be great for her to take something away with her other than hospital memories. We live in Devon so it’s a bit of a trek for us!!Can we get reduced disabled tickets and how accessable for someone using walking frame as we’re hoping not to take the wheelchair! Also is there somewhere fun nearby to go for a meal before the show?!I’m asking this as my daughters hardly been out the house since her diaggnosis and hasn’t even gone back to school yet so I ant her to have a fab time and enjoy being young again. sorry it’s a long message. Hello Priscilla

Having scrolled back through previous comments I see that in some cases you answer queries about cast holidays & at other times you don’t divulge this info for reasons of privacy - which I respect of course. However I have quite serious health problems & getting to the show is like a military manouvre for me & I would be DEVASTATED to find especially Oliver Thornton was not performing. Is there a time before I make my journey when I can establish if he is on? I would not be demanding a refund or anything like that (as know there is a fabulous show to be seen whichever way) but I would choose to book again for another time & give my tickets away. Are you able to let me know if - as far as you know - Oliver is performing the evening show on Thursday 11th February? Thanks very much Dompy

February 9th, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Hello Dompy

We no longer tell holiday dates, as has been stated. Also we can never guarantee a performer will be on, due to illness and injury. If you ring the box office they can give you the best idea. I’m sure you will enjoy the show whoever is on.

We love this show, its the best thing we have ever seen in the West End, but why oh why is Tony going!!

We have ween Priscilla 5 times now, and we are taking friends to see it on 4th March 2010, we cant wait.

Is there any way I can get Jason, Tony and Oliver to sign a poster for me, my other half would love it.

Also I have heard a rumour that the show is off to Broadway in 2011. tell me thats not true?

Thanks

February 27th, 2010 at 12:04 pm

Hi there,

I’m afraid we can’t organise a signing of a poster as we get many such requests, but if you want to try and catch the actors outside stage door, they may well sign it for you.

Priscilla is opening in Broadway in 2011, but it will be a separate production. We will hopefully still be running at the Palace as long as everyone keeps coming to see us!

Hi Prscilla, I´m really interested in this musical, and although the date for the opening castings is in sep-october, I´d like to know if it will be possible to pass the casting by internet.
I´m a spanish girl, I LOVE musicals shows and I would be pleased if I could make at least a first part of the casting on Internet. Do you think that´ll be possible?
Thank you very much!!

Hi! I saw the show last night and thought it was amazing! It was Jason Donovan’s night off but the guy playing Tick was brilliant! The thing is I really wanted to see Jason! Can you tell me if he always does certain nights? Only I know he is only there for a couple more weeks and we will come back to see it if we know he will definately be there! (and maybe again after that!)

thanks! Kerry x

Hi Kerry,

Jason has got the last few Monday’s off. Otherwise he’ll be on, other than due to illness, injury or unforeseen circumstances.

I want to say a big thank you for the wonderful treatment we received yesterday at Priscilla. I brought my disabled mother in her wheelchair and the care and consideration we received was fabulous. So a big thank you all, but particularly to John who made the show such a fantstic experience and even fetched our ice creams in the interval. We will be telling everyone how super the front of house staff are, such a refreshing change in today’s world. Truly ‘A ride to the Heart of Fabulous.’

Priscilla. How do we get in touch with cast memebers? Me and Matthew Wesley had chemistry tonight haha!! Took me up on stage to dance and gave me cheeky smiles all through the show.

Do the cast come out and see fans at the stage door after a matinee performance as well as in the evening? Or do they stay inside until the evening performance? Also, is Jason on every night/afternoon this week until he leaves on Saturday?

by Priscilla

May 25th, 2010 at 12:36 pm

The cast can come out between matinees and sign autographs at stage door. It depends on the day. Jason is performing in every performance until Saturday, unless ill or injured.

We are coming to London for the show again in mid September. I have just tried to book tickets online however there are 2 weeks blanked out. Is there a cast holiday booked in during September or is it a glitch int he system?

Hello Priscilla

I am wondering why Oliver Thorton isn’t performing on the Ayers Rock anymore, why not? This is ridiculous I have to say, that is the best part of the show, and he’s got a fantasic voice. Rb

The decision was made to move the Kylie Medley off the top of Ayres Rock, because there are some places in the theatre that couldn’t see it clearly. So now everyone can see and hear Oliver’s wonderful rendition of the Kylie Medley.

hi priscilla

my daughter has just come out of hospital after being in there for almost 9 months, she has said that she would love to see priscilla and i wondered, as a special treat for her, if she would be able to meet the cast. Is there any way at all that this could be arranged?

by Priscilla

June 29th, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Hi Sophia,

I’m afraid we can’t arrange anything specific. We are glad that your daughter is better and wants to come to see the show, but we have many such requests. If you wait outside stage door before or after the show you may catch the cast members for photos or autographs. We hope you enjoy the show.

Hi Priscilla

Just been for the sixth time and just LOVE the show. How long are you booking in advance, I’m planning a BIG group for my BIG birthday but it’s 18 months away? Also any news on how long Oliver is staying in the show? - everyone is fab but Oliver is AMAZING and I’m not sure I could bear it without him.

thank you, Gill

Hi Gill,

We are booking up to the end of May 2011. There are no plans for Oliver to leave the show.
