Michael is considered to be a pioneer of the Australian music industry, having over 40 years’ experience in organising and promoting international artists in Australia.
Following many years with the Frontier Touring Company, Michael Chugg formed his own company in 1999, aptly named Michael Chugg Entertainment, which went on several years later to be known simply as Chugg Entertainment. In almost ten years of operation (Michael) Chugg Entertainment has promoted and toured hundreds of international artists. Some of highlights include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bette Midler, Keith Urban, John Fogerty, Rufus Wainwright, Kings of Leon, The Kooks, Bright Eyes, Gomez, Jason Mraz, Sinead O’Connor, Gwen Stefani, Elton John, Dixie Chicks, REM, Mark Knopfler, Bob Dylan, The Who, Radiohead, John Mayer, Coldplay, Robbie Williams and many more.
In addition to stand-alone tours, Chugg Entertainment has been involved in countless festivals such as the Vans Warped tour, East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay, the West Coast Blues & Roots Festival, Point Nepean, Southern Roots, Soundwave and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, as well as special events such as the Tap Dogs tenth anniversary tour, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake and Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical with theatre business partners Backrow UK.
Michael Chugg and his team have also been involved in a number of major charity events including Wave Aid, which raised $2.3m for the victims of the Boxing Day tsunami, and were chosen as the organisers of the Sydney Live Earth concert in 2007.
Almost every year, Michael and the company are recognised with internationally renowned awards such as Pollstar’s International Promoter of the Year, ILMC’s Promoter’s Promoter, CMA’s International Talent Buyer/Promoter Award, Helpmann Awards, the Jack Awards’ Gentlemen Jack and APRA’s prestigious Ted Albert Award for a lifetime of services to the Australian music industry.
