John Rutledge - Music Director

John hails from Sydney and, having studied Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, spent the early part of his career playing keyboards in various jazz/funk bands at venues and festivals around Australia. His first musical theatre engagement was as Deputy Musical Director on the Australian tour of The New Rocky Horror Show in 1996. Since then he has worked on Sweet Charity, Witches of Eastwick, The Lion King, Miss Saigon, Spamalot, Mamma Mia, Rent, Fame, Oh What a Night, and We Will Rock You. As Musical Director, he has worked on The New Rocky Horror Show, alive action/puppet version of The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, and Hair, which earned him a Green Room Award nomination.

Since moving to the UK in 2008, he has been Deputy Musical Director on Can’t Smile Without You (UK Tour), and Thriller Live, (Lyric Theatre), as well as Musical Director on Dancing in The Streets (UK Tour).

John is delighted to be taking the reins of an Aussie show in a West End.
