Phillip Scott - Script Consultant
Phillip has forged a career as one of Australia’s most versatile artists - performer, musician, novelist and satirist. Phillip began his theatrical career as musical director on such shows as Tarantara! Tarantara!, Tom Foolery and The Rocky Horror Show, as well as co-writing and appearing in Zen and Now at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. His work with Max Gillies on A Night of National Reconciliation and The Gillies Summit led to working for ABC Television as a writer, composer and musical arranger.
Phillip is a founding member of Three Men and a Baby Grand, a musical revue that toured Australia and travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe and London. He has also performed on The Today Show and written film scores including Those Dear Departed, which earned him an AFI nomination. He has worked as musical director for David Campbell, and appeared as Liberace in the specially commissioned Sydney Theatre Company show Wunnerful Liberace, directed by Richard Wherrett. Phillip toured Australia with the revue Abroad with Two Men (which he co-wrote and composed), as well as appearing in his solo cabaret shows across the country.
Phillip has worked as a script consultant for numerous shows, including Man from Snowy River, Oh What a Night and Orpheus in the Underworld, as well as working as a full-time writer for television’s Good News Week.
In 1995 he made his literary debut with his first novel, One Dead Diva. Gay Resort Murder Shock, Get Over It!, and It’s About Your Friend soon followed; they were published in Australia and the USA. He also co-wrote and composed The Republic of Myopia for STC as well as creating and performing in over 18 enormously successful Wharf Revues.
He writes a weekly column for Sydney’s free gay paper The Star Observer and reviews classical CDs for Fanfare.
