Allan Scott
Allan Scott (Rafford Films) has written, co-written, produced or co-produced over 20 feature films.
He is a long-time collaborator of director Nicolas Roeg, beginning with the Venice-set thriller Don’t Look Now, co-written with Chris Bryant and starring Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland, which was recently voted one of the top ten British films ever made.
This was followed by Castaway (Amanda Donohoe and Oliver Reed), The Witches (Anjelica Huston and Rowan Atkinson) and Two Deaths (Michael Gambon and Sonia Braga).
Other credits include The Preacher’s Wife (Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington, director Penny Marshall) and In Love and War (Sandra Bullock, Chris O’Donnell, director Richard Attenborough). He was executive producer of the cult thriller Shallow Grave, directed by Danny Boyle.
Besides the films he has produced, are two for which he also wrote the screenplay: Regeneration (Jonathan Pryce, Jonny Lee Miller, director Gillies McKinnon) which was BAFTA-nominated for Best British film, and The Fourth Angel (Jeremy Irons, Forest Whitaker, Charlotte Rampling, director John Irvin). His screenplay of The Queen’s Gambit from the novel by Walter Tevis is due to be filmed later in the year.
Upcoming theatre projects include The Conjuror, a thriller about a magician, and Testament, a multimedia event dramatising the music of the Second World War.
He has won a Mystery Writers of America Award and a Writers’ Guild Award.
Allan first met Stephan Elliott ten years ago at a Hollywood studio discussion about their adapting a short story by Ayn Rand. The project is still in development.
