Ask Mark Moraghan - Bob - 2

by Priscilla

Jun.13, 2011, under Cast Blog

We asked you for your questions for Mark. Here is the second set of them with his answers.

Which other role in Priscilla would you like to play?

Bernadette. I did audition for her once ages ago and at the time I wasn’t right for the role, but I think I could play her now. I’m maybe not physically right for it, but she’s such a complex character and it would be a great challenge to play her.

Have you sung before?

Yes many times, so it wasn’t something that worried me.

What dream roles do you have?

I’d love to do Guys and Dolls, maybe as Sky Masterson. I would also love to be in a Western that would be a dream role for me.

What is a typical day like?

On a matinee day I’d drop my daughter off at school then come home and have some breakfast. I’d normally come into town an hour or so before the warm up. Get some food in for lunch and dinner. Do the warm up, then the show. After that I’ll jump in the shower and then maybe I’ll grab something to eat in a restaurant in Soho or have something I’ve brought earlier, before a quick nap before the second show. I need to have an hour when I get home to have a drink or watch some telly to wind down before going to bed.

What is your favourite song?

MacArthur Park is a great song. I love Downtown. It’s a fantastic song and wonderful arrangement. I think that is my favourite song. I always have it turned up on the speaker in the dressing room.

Are there any funny stories about Priscilla?

There are always little things that go wrong from time to time on stage. Richard Grieve is what we call a “twinkler” as am I. Meaning he has that twinkle for mischief if something goes wrong and he catches your eye. There have been a few times when things go wrong on stage and we’ve caught each other’s eye and you have to suppress a laugh. The last matinee Richard was having problems getting into his costume for the cheerleaders scene as I walk in. Richard took his wig off the stand and then stumbled in his platforms and got the cue slightly wrong. Then there was a pause as I nearly messed up trying to remember what the cue was and we both had a brief smile. Things like that can happen quite a lot.
