We asked you to send in your questions for Jason. Here are the first set of them and his answers.

If you could play any part in any film, show or musical, what would it be and why?

That’s a really hard question to ask an actor. The problem with films is in my mind they come and go so quickly that I can’t remember specific characters. What Robert Downey Jr does as an actor is pretty outstanding, what Russell Crowe does is pretty outstanding. They’ve had some good roles to play. In terms of musicals, I’d love to do Cabaret one day. I would love to play Willy Wonker in a musical of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. My main passion though is in music and pop songs.

Would you be interested in producing a movie and if so, what kind of movie would it be?

Yes. I have been on the peripheral of creating ideas for films. The process of filmmaking takes a long time, even more so than musicals in some cases. There are only so many stories in the world. I would like to make something, maybe Australian, which has a great story and a great character in it.

What is the most challenging part of playing Tick?

Eight shows a week. The matinee days and eight shows, is what I find the toughest. It is like being an athlete. You have to eat right, e.g. fruit and you try to eat at the right time. The problem is I’m not just Tick on stage; I’m Jason the radio presenter and I do a lot of public events for the show, interviews and performances, which has some great fringe benefits, but it becomes a lifestyle not just a job.

If you weren’t an actor or a singer, what career path would you have chosen?

An artist or something in that area. The great thing about my job is that after 25 odd years I still love it. I’m not bored, which I think is pretty amazing. I’m doing what I want to do.
